SOVEREIGN ORDER OF MALTA

The Sovereign Order of Malta has a very strong presence in Palestine and Jerusalem, as we provide healthcare treatment and emergency relief to the local population, regardless of identity or ability to pay. One of the ways that we provide treatment is through the Order’s Holy Family Hospital in Bethlehem, which has a neonatal intensive care unit and is a referral hospital to four UNRWA refugee camps in the region. In addition, the Hospital’s mobile clinics travel weekly to isolated villages in the Judean desert. Furthermore, because there is a high rate of curable blindness in this region, provision is made for these preventable illnesses through the Anabta Clinic on the West Bank, the mobile clinics, and the eye hospitals in Jerusalem, Gaza, and Hebron, which are operated by our confreres of the venerable order of St. John of Jerusalem.
