On 26 August 2026, Judge Brien Purcell Horan, Deputy Permanent Observer of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the United Nations, met with H.E. Ambassador Anteneh Senbeta, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the United Nations, in New York.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the longstanding bilateral relationship between the Sovereign Order of Malta and Ethiopia, as well as prospects for further high-level engagement between the two sides during the forthcoming High-Level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The discussion also addressed the humanitarian challenges facing Ethiopia, with particular attention to food security and the importance of strengthening resilience and sustainable responses to humanitarian needs.

Judge Horan highlighted the Sovereign Order of Malta’s longstanding diplomatic and humanitarian mission and its commitment to supporting vulnerable communities around the world.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared interest in strengthening bilateral relations and continuing dialogue on humanitarian issues of mutual concern.
