Water for Health: Access to WASH, including the Human Rights to Safe Drinking Water and Sanitation

Our projects in the field of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) form a cornerstone of our work. By taking an integrated approach to health and incorporating components from the field’s nutrition and WASH, we provide simple and effective solutions with a high level of resilience to natural disasters and crises, which can be implemented by local communities. Through our national Associations, volunteer corps and our worldwide relief agency, Malteser International, who is a member of the Global WASH Cluster and the German WASH Network, we actively participate in several technical working groups and are involved in providing training through these networks to members/participants worldwide. We take a holistic approach to health, a combination of physical, mental and social-emotional well-being, in our programs, which include the protection of nature and the environment. As such we promote inclusion and provide access to water and sanitation services in countries across the world. Thereby, we aim to contribute to achieving the internationally agreed water-related goals and targets, including those contained in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
