Ambassador Paul Beresford-Hill met with Ambassador Mohamed Siad Doualeh, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Djibouti to the United Nations, on February 5th, 2024.

Ambassador Beresford-Hill gave Ambassador Doualeh an overview of the Sovereign Order of Malta, from its origin to its present role as a global humanitarian organization. Ambassador Doualeh showed interest in the Order’s history and commended its engagement in the General Assembly.

Ambassador Beresford-Hill emphasized the Order’s commitment to advocating for marginalized communities and highlighted various of its humanitarian projects, including aid for leprosy patients and the numerous hospitals run by the Order. Ambassador Doualeh expressed keen interest in the Order’s work, especially in Africa.

Ambassador Doualeh provided insight into Djibouti’s urgent health needs, noting areas where the Order could contribute. He also highlighted broader concerns such as regional crises and climate change. Both ambassadors expressed interest in exploring collaborative approaches to address these challenges.
