Ambassador Paul Beresford-Hill met with Ambassador Agnes Mary Chimbiri-Molande, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Malawi to the United Nations, on February 16th, 2024.

Ambassador Beresford-Hill gave Ambassador Chimbiri-Molande an overview of the Sovereign Order of Malta’s history and its role as a global humanitarian actor. He also provided insight into a project supported by the Order’s Maltese Association in Malawi, focusing on pediatric patients at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre. Ambassador Chimbiri-Molande acknowledged the need for health support in rural areas, where access to medical resources is limited.

Both ambassadors discussed Malawi’s priorities, including addressing disease, poverty, and hunger, given its high population growth rate and economic challenges. The meeting highlighted shared interests in addressing health challenges in Malawi and explored avenues for future collaboration between the Order of Malta and the Malawian government.
