The UN Water Conference, co-hosted by the Permanent Mission of the Netherlands and the Permanent Mission of Tajikistan, took place from March 22^nd to March 24^th and is expected to adopt the Water Action Agenda as a main outcome. It resulted  in a summary of proceedings from the president of the General Assembly that will feed into the 2023 session of the UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF).

Peter McGuire, Senior Counsellor addressed the General Assembly during the 1^st Plenary Meeting. He stated that ‘access to clean water remains a multidimensional crisis that requires more effort, dialogue and action.’ He continued saying that ‘In addressing target 6.2 of the SDGs, we purposefully approach our work using a gender-based lens […] as many girls and women in developing countries lack access to adequate sanitary products and facilities, which lead to severe health and educational concerns.’
