On Friday, May 19th, 2023, Counsellor to the Ambassador, Dr. Michael Espiritu delivered a statement to the United Nations’ in the Trusteeship Council Chamber on the topic of  Strategic Foresight and Risk Reduction to Accelerate Implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.

In his speech, Dr. Espiritu annunciated the Order of Malta’s contributive efforts as a whole to the effort, noting that “the Order has remained at the forefront [of this initiative] through fostering collaborative frameworks and sharing knowledge among nations, organizations, and stakeholders to preemptively identify and mitigate risks, establish robust early warning systems, and promote adaptive measures.”

He concluded his discourse by digressing that “the Order of Malta actively supports initiatives that fortify the multilateral system’s capabilities, working in partnership with pertinent stakeholders to augment risk reduction endeavors.”
