Our Counsellor Mr. Felipe Victoria-Grueso delivered a statement at the 2022 UN Third Committee Conference on Wednesday, 26th October.

Mr. Victoria-grueso commented the report from the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Syrian Arab Republic, Mr. Paulo Sérgio Pinheiro, reminding that the Order of Malta is actively involved “in the humanitarian situation in Syria where we have been providing medical aid to local partners since the beginning of the war more than eleven (11) years ago”.

Mr. Victoria-Grueso brought examples of the daily work of the Malteser International, our aid agency for humanitarian help and development, that operates and supports five (5) hospitals and eight (8) primary healthcare centers in the Aleppo and Idlib regions and it is also involved in the neighboring countries for helping refugees, especially in Lebanon.

At the end, he asked – on behalf of the Sovereign Order of Malta – to the Arab Republic of Syria and all members states to “remove all obstacles to humanitarian aid”.
