Almost 100 Ambassadors and guests were invited today by the Egyptian Ambassador, H.E. Osama Abdel Khalek, to the United Nations to join members of his Mission in celebrating Egyptian National Day. In his address to his guests, Ambassador Abdel Khalek reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to multilateralism and talked about his country being the host of the 2022 COP27 meetings in Sharm el Shekh.

In his message of greeting to the Ambassador of Egypt, Ambassador Beresford-Hill affirmed the commitment of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the cause of peace and unity within the Middle East and commended Egypt’s role in being among the first nations in the region to forge a peaceful relationship with its neighbours. He also congratulated Ambassador Abdel Khalek on his being co-facilitator of the United Nations intergovernmental process on the establishment of a United Nations Youth Office and mentioned that the Sovereign Order of Malta Permanent Observer Mission to the United Nations was delighted to be part of this process.
