Our delegate Mr. James Harrison Greenwood discussed the “promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression” at the 2022 UN Third Committee Conference on Friday 14th October.
Mr. Greenwood intervened on the work of the Special Rapporteur Ms. Irene Khan stressing:
“Freedom of religion or belief and the ability to express it is a fundamental human right that all Member States must uphold, as enshrined in the UN Charter and Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Sovereign Order of Malta recognizes the tremendous value and important role that faith-based institutions, organizations, networks, and movements play in realizing the full potential, dignity and rights of all human beings”.
