On March 5, 2026, Ambassador Beresford-Hill met with Mrs. Ulziibayar Vangansuren, Deputy Permanent Representative of Mongolia, to explore new avenues for humanitarian cooperation. During the exchange, Ambassador Beresford-Hill highlighted the Order’s extensive global humanitarian footprint, which spans 120 countries and includes significant operations in the Middle East and Ukraine.

The discussion focused on the intersection of climate change and public health in Mongolia. Mrs. Vangansuren outlined the challenges facing her country, particularly land degradation, desertification, and the health impacts of urban centralization. She noted that these environmental shifts have led to an increase in respiratory illnesses and other health concerns linked to air pollution and lifestyle changes. In response, Ambassador Beresford-Hill emphasized the Order’s specialized expertise in mobile medical units, noting that their experience with mobile pre-natal care and treating environmental eye infections in other regions could be helpful in providing advice in assisting Mongolia’s rural and mountain populations.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to expanding collaboration and identifying shared humanitarian goals. Ambassador Beresford-Hill expressed the Order’s intent to strengthen its presence in Asia. By leveraging the Order’s global logistics network and Mongolia’s identified health priorities, both parties look forward to a growing partnership that addresses the critical needs of the Mongolian people.
