Human Trafficking Side Event: Preventative Strategies and Care of Victims
09/01/2024

This upcoming Thursday, January 11th, 2024, from 10 AM to 1 PM EST, the Permanent Observer Mission of the Sovereign Order of Malta is proud to announce that we will be co-hosting a thought-provoking and action-oriented event in the United Nations HQ’s ECOSOC Chamber on the topic of ‘Human Trafficking: Preventative Strategies and Care of Victims’ that aims to illuminate the profound impact that governments, civil society, including faith-based organizations and healthcare professionals can make in addressing the multifaceted challenges posed by human trafficking.

Through this event we seek to foster a deeper understanding of the critical intersection between human trafficking, international preventative measures and the impact of healthcare,  emphasizing the role of healthcare providers as frontline responders and advocates in enabling victims to free themselves and re-establish their lives.

The Sovereign Order of Malta will be co-hosting this event alongside the Permanent Missions of Mexico, the Philippines, France, Nigeria, and Liechtenstein, as well as with non-governmental organizations Finance Against Slavery and Trafficking (FAST), the Santa Marta Group, Global Strategic Operatives, The O’Connell House, and the Department of Homeland Security.
