{"id":1211,"date":"2022-11-22T10:59:50","date_gmt":"2022-11-22T15:59:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unmissionny.orderofmalta.int\/?post_type=news&#038;p=1211"},"modified":"2022-11-22T11:25:27","modified_gmt":"2022-11-22T16:25:27","slug":"youth-delegate-panel-discussion-on-climate-change-cop27","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/unmissionny.orderofmalta.int\/en\/news\/youth-delegate-panel-discussion-on-climate-change-cop27\/","title":{"rendered":"Youth Delegate Panel Discussion on Climate Change &#8211; COP27"},"featured_media":0,"menu_order":0,"template":"","class_list":["post-1211","news","type-news","status-publish","hentry","news_categories-news","news_tags-anna-kvashuk","news_tags-azza-karam","news_tags-breaking","news_tags-climate-change","news_tags-cop27","news_tags-daniel-del-valle-blanco","news_tags-evidence","news_tags-focuson","news_tags-higher-committee-of-human-fraternity","news_tags-iyad-abu-moghli","news_tags-judge-mohamed-abdelsalam","news_tags-news","news_tags-religions-for-peace-international","news_tags-sofia-piecuch","news_tags-sovereign-order-of-malta","news_tags-unep","news_tags-unesco","news_tags-united-nations","news_tags-world-youth-alliance","news_tags-xiaoyu-dai"],"acf":{"evidence":"yes","focus_on":"no","breaking":"yes","news_content":"<p>On Sunday 20th November, the 27th Conference of the Parties to the\u00a0United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) held in Egypt, came to an end.<\/p>\n<p>UN Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres highlighted the need to do more in order to reduce emissions.<br \/>\n\u201cThe world still needs a giant leap on climate ambition\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Sovereign Order of Malta acknowledges the importance of the future generation, the ones who will be witnesses of the ongoing climate crisis consequences and wanted to give them the opportunity to speak\u00a0about it.<\/p>\n<p>In conjunction with the World Youth Alliance, The Sovereign Order of Malta organized a panel discussion with young professionals, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mr. Daniel del Valle Blanco, Attach\u00e9 for Political and Youth Affairs for the Permanent Observer Mission of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the United Nations;<\/li>\n<li>Ms. Barbara Korcova, Youth Delegate for the Slovak Mission to the United Nation;<\/li>\n<li>Ms. Xiaoyu Dai, Consultant for United Nations Educational, UNESCO;<\/li>\n<li>Ms. Anna Kvashuk (virtually), Youth Counselor for UN-Habitat and UNEP Faith for Earth<\/li>\n<li>Mr. Felix Osman (virtually) &#8211; Youth Counselor for UNEP Faith for Earth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our moderator Ms. Sofia Piecuch, Director of Advocacy at the World Youth Alliance, posed some questions to the panel, including what steps need to be taken to address climate change, how to achieve climate change goals, what is the role of faith based organizations in this regards, and more.<br \/>\nFurthermore, Ms. Piecuch\u00a0asked to share some of their thoughts on COP27.<\/p>\n<p>The Sovereign Order of Malta thanks\u00a0Mr. Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, Secretary-General of the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity;\u00a0Dr. Iyad Abu Moghli, Director General, UNEP Faith for Earth Initiative;\u00a0H.E.
