Boyd,<\/em> bringing an example of the Order of Malta&#8217;s work to promote this type of environment:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In Colombia, Malteser International Americas\u2019 mangrove projects in Isla del Rosario and Tasajeras in northern Colombia, have provided carbon-capture ecosystems, coastal defense from rising sea levels; filtered pollution through their roots increasing water quality; and preserved a broad variety of species.\u00a0 These mangroves have empowered women entrepreneurs and provided a sustainable source of income for communities including fisheries&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. del Rosario-Blackett also stressed:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If we don\u2019t act now our human rights will not only remain theoretical, we will each have a demonstrable hand\u00a0 at the destruction of humanity.\u00a0 Collectively we can make a difference and we must muster the will to tackle the challenges that we face. It is our duty to do so.
